Why were many aspects of United States'

Cold War policies accepted by both

Democrats and Republicans?

1. The Cold War was viewed as a struggle

between freedom and tyranny.

2. Both parties recognized the need to

present a united front during times of

war.

3. Presidents Truman and Eisenhower were

able to bridge the differences between

the parties through skillful diplomacy.

4. The Democratic party favored the policies

for their treatment of minorities, while

the Republican party like the policies due

to their lenient treatment of the wealthy.
