The constituion's preamble was based on America's experience as a colony of Great Britain. There are several different phrases that give this away.

Example 1: "establish justice" - This phrase was included because many American colonists felt that the British government was unjust in their treatment. Failing to listen to the needs and wants of the citizens was one of the biggest parts of America's revolution.

Example 2: "We the people" - This phrase indicates that this is a collective effort of the Americans. This sets the tone for the rest of the constitution, as it establishes the fact that the people are the ones with the power and that the government will receive their power from the citizens. While they were colonists, it often felt like the government had all the power and the citizens were left with virtually no political power/voice.
