Marcus Garvey founded the Universal Association for the Improvement of the Black Man (UNIA), whose main objective was to unite all people of African origin around the world into one and establish a country and a government of their own. The American Colonization Society (ACS), also wanted to reunite blacks in one place, they did it through the support of the migration of free African Americans to the African continent, they were against slavery and they thought that blacks would be better all gathered in Africa than in the United States. Garvey also like the founders of ACS thought that in a single place the blacks would have educational, industrial and political success and this nation should be in Africa, it was also against slavery.
