What was the response to napoleon's reinstatement of slavery in st. domingue?

It would be a full blown slave revolt and resistance that can also be called the Haitian Revolution between the colored people against the French and the white people in the island. It also the first colony succeeded in achieving its independence and freedom against the white forces that undermined and controlled the black and colored slaves.
