The Battle of Wounded Knee represents the Native American's final attempt to resist the armed forces. It can also be named as the Wounded Knee Massacre. This battle took place on 29th December 1890 near the Wounded Knee creek in the United States state of South Dakota. On the morning of 29th December, the troops of the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the US under Major Samuel M. Whitside went to disarm the Lakota. The process was going on smoothly until a deaf Lakota did not want to give up his rifle. In a struggle that ensued a firing happened and this led to the indiscriminate firing by the soldiers of the cavalry.
