Describe the responses of both whites and african-americans to the end of slavery.

    When we talk about the South even after slavery ended many whites did not want give up their slaves and still tried to keep them on variety of ways, like attacking ones that tried to leave and saying that the slavery is legal until the Supreme Court ruled otherwise. African Americans also had a variety of reactions. Some remained loyal to those who owned them, others weren't even sure that the abolition of slavery was true and some took to violence against the whites.
