The southern kingdom was destroyed in 586 BCE by Babylonia.
Zedekiah, the ruler of Kingdom of Judah (The Southern Kingdom) revolted against Nebuchadnezzar, the ruler of Babylonia. Of course, Nebuchadnezzar didn't like that, so he conquered the Southern Kingdom in 586 BCE after which only Jerusalem remained.
