    -Nixon believed that he could spur a boycott of the area's bus lines and be processed via legal channels, convincing Parks of the power of her case. He also enlisted the aid of a new, young preacher at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., to lead the boycott.

    - According to King, America learned that it cannot win every conflict it has an interest in, and that North Vietnamese are forces not to be underestimated. This forces US to switch to a slightly less confrontational policy. It was more likely to win the cold war through its better trade relationships, diplomacy and the race of the economies rather than through Asian military invasions.
