    The economy of the Roman Empire depended greatly on trades with Mediterranean ports which was made within a few weeks and in a relatively safe way for merchants to travel. One of the greatest impact that the imperial crisis had on the fall of the Roman Empire was the break down of the internal trade network of Rome. With the financial crisis and the disruption of Rome's trade network, exchange got a lot more difficult with the debased currency.
