Robert E. Lee is one of the civil war commanders. He resigned from the US army to join the army force of his native state, where he rose to the position of general in chief of all confederate forces. During his time, he defeated the federal army continuously in Virginia but his two attempted invasions on northern soil were unsuccessful. His major reason for attempting invasion of the north is the hope of dishonoring and destroying the morale of the north by wining them on their own soil.
