The beginning of the renaissance occurred in Europe in the 14th to the 16th centuries, motivated by the great changes that took place, such as the development of cities and commerce and also maritime expansion. These two main changes that occurred changed the way individuals saw the world, the perspective was different, as they believed they were living in a new, reborn society. Unlike the Middle Ages, the new times of development and social prosperity generated an intense cultural movement, there was a need to express the values of the new society through new ideas and art, which was possible due to the enrichment of merchants and governments, who passed to finance the artistic production of writers, architects, musicians, painters, sculptors and others.

This support motivated the development of the arts and sciences, while at the same time reinforcing the political authority of those who financed the artists, since the artists often expressed the values that were defended by the authorities, this practice was known as patronage.
