How did the people of the soviet union react to the independence of mant eastern european countries?

They saw that it was possible to loosen the power of the communist regime and started revolutionizing themselves. They wanted to end Gorbachev's regime and make Russia a different country. This was mostly because of high rates of poverty, corruption, unemployment, and similar things. They wanted to get elections and similar things and end the communist government.
