    A. He built a 133-foot paddleboat powered by a steam engine, the Clermont, that sailed on the Hudson River.

The Clermont, a steamboat, went with passengers from New York City to Albany and back again within 62 hours. A round trip which covers 300 miles.

Aside from building the Clermont, Robert Fulton was also commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte to design the first practical submarine in history, the Nautilus.
