The name of the filed or industry which got affected by the Interstate Commerce Act was Railroad industry. This act affected the consumers in a positive manner and railroad industry in the negative manner. In the year 1887, this act was passed and came into existence as a Federal law of the United States of America with the aim to ensure that the railway industry would not be charged different fares or rates from the different consumers.

Also the government did not have the right or power to regulate or fix the rates. Through this act, the government assured that there would be no discrimination or differentiation in charges/fares for long or short distance goods hauling. After this, the railroad industry declared its shipping rates publicly to avoid any kind of discrimination.
