    The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries was founded in Baghdad in 1960 by five countries which are: Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

    Later on, other countries joined the organization making the nowadays total count of members 14 countries.

    Members of the organization are:

    Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Gabon, Qatar, Indonesia, Libya, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Nigeria, Angola and Equatorial Guinea.
