    Southern Christian Leadership Conference was created to bring more attention to the racial discrimination that occurs in the southern states. They highlighted the fact that racial segregation made black citizens get lower education, job opportunities, and lower standard of living compared to other white citizens.

    The Montgomery Improvement Association on the other hand, was initially created to focus only on the problems within public transportation system in Montgomery during the segregation period. It does not necessarily address civil right as a whole.
