How did both the North and the South use political strategy to further their aims during the Civil War? In particular, consider Great Britain's response to the war and how each side tried to influence this response. Also consider how leaders on each side tried to ensure unity and support for the war effort. Were these efforts effective? Explain.

    Back then, the north union actually was fighting just for the sake of fighting. So they really didn't have much motivation ... But when emancipation proclamation came. That all changed. They had a purpose to fight for, the political unity in the north had inspired more to fight harder, and more to join up. The south already had their motivation to fight harder, to keep the slaves that built their economy.
