India greatly influenced Southeast Asia beginning around 200 BC until the 15 th century. During this time, Hindu-Buddhis influence was absorbed by politics. India had initially built trade, cultural and political relations with Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Thailand, Cambodia, Burma, and even Vietnam. For more than a hundred years, the cultural exchanges between India and other Southeast Asian countries has been called "Indianisation ". Indianisation led to major transfers of Indian religious, politics, and artistic features to these countries.
