B) leading the first all-black army regiment during the Civil War.
C) being the first African slave to come to British North America.
D) being a leading intellectual abolitionist orator before the Civil War
Answer: A) leading an unsuccessful slave revolt in Virginia in the 1830s.
Explanation:
Nat Turner, (1800 - 1831) was a black American slave who became most known in history for being the leader of one of the most ferocious slave uprisings in America on August 21, 1831. After the insurrection, he was ultimately captured and then hanged.
The terror that the revolt spread throughout the white South was met with new oppressive legislation about slaves while proslavery, antiabolitionist convictions hardened until the American Civil War (1861-65).
