    The energy crisis occurred in Western countries Europe, New Zealand, Canada and Western Europe. All these countries faces elevated prices and petroleum shortages. Two oil crises of the 1970 were 1973 and 1979 crisis caused due to Yom Kippur war and the Iranian revolution respectively.

    The oil production had peaked in in the late 1960's and early 1970s but after threat the world oil production per capita began to decline after 1979. All the western countries faces escalated issues related to petroleum supply as the western countries depended on the oil supply of the unfriendly countries in Middle East.

    During Yom-Kippur war the Arabic countries that were member of the OPEC imposed a ban on sale of oil to US to retaliate for US government's decision to aid the Israeli military that US could get upper hand in the post war negotiations. The embargo ended in March 1974.
