There are three major techniques used by policymakers to achieve their goals affecting public interests namely: regulatory policy, distributive policy, and redistributive policy. Each has its own special purpose

    1. Regulatory Policy - Its major goal is to maintain order and prohibit behaviors that would endanger the society. This is achieved by the government through restricting of citizens, corporations from engaging in the actions that negatively affect the social and political order.

The regulatory policy further protects economic activities and business markets.

    2. Distributive Public Policy - This refers to the provision of benefits to citizens, groups, and corporations. i. e. administration of voting procedures, provision of traffic ordinances, and prohibiting people from using certain drugs.
