    D. How government should be involved in the economy.

    Whigs believed the government should have a lot of involvement in the economy (pro-business policy, Henry Clay's American System)

    Democrats believed in lassiez faire (government hands-off approach for economy). Jackson was also president and vetoed the rechartering of the Second National Bank
