On what grounds does the U. S. Supreme Court find in favor of the missionary who was arrested for violating Georgia law (and indirectly in favor of the sovereignty of the Cherokee Nation) ?

    The US Supreme Court found that the state of Georgia could not regulate through state law the interaction between citizens of the state and the Cherokee nation. Only the US government had the right to regulate interaction between Cherokee nation. It therefore found the Georgia law unconstitutional.
