The American Revolution left behind a great legacy. Beyond the battlefield, the American Revolution left a lasting impact in the foundation of the American republic and its political principles.

The impacts of this legacy include:

The war made the Americans more united publicly in affairs and in government.

The Americans were the first to defeat a foreign power of immense power - Great Britain and become a recognized nation. Other nations that rebelled against England didn't survive.

The American Revolution made Americans feel better about themselves. It gave them nationalist pride.

The Americans made known to Europe that they could fight for their freedom through sheer will and determination. The victory at Saratoga proves that because France and eventually Spain joined the conflict. Even the Dutch unofficially supported the cause - even when they were at war with England.

Lastly the Americans looked up to men that led the new country such as Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams, Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, James Madison, James Monroe, Alexander Hamilton and others. Essentially the men that made our country were the Founding Fathers.
