It represented the product of 14 months of diplomatic efforts between the United tates and the two nations (Egypt and Israel); this diplomatic efforts began after Jimmy Carter became the President of the United States. The Camp David Accords was signed on the 17th September 1978 at Washington, D. C., United States by three signatories: Menachem Begin (Prime Minister of Israel), Anwar Sadat (President of Egypt) & Jimmy Carter (who also acted as the witness). This accord was the foundation upon which the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel would be ratified the following year in 1979
