He led his followers and ventured across Iowa to establish a new, safer home but managed to stop in Winter Quarters, Nebraska in their first onset travel. Later on a much smaller group and Young made another journey to the Rocky Mountains where they established a permanent home to escape prosecution and religious discrimination from the people of Nauvoo.
