So I would agree with Stephanie that it was a way of expressing themselves. In doing so, the founding fathers expressed their love for their dream of what America could become. It was their way of saying, "We're going at this together, and we do not care who is against us." In building this initial trust they were able to most successfully accomplish their objective.
