Great Britain joined the war because they were allies to Russia and France. The Germans invaded Belgium, but Britain had troops defending Belgium to protect their France (one of their allies). The Germans attacking France through Belgium was a serious threat. Britain didn't ignore the events of a Germany attacking France and they declared war on Germany.
