El tributo era recogido por los principales alcaldes de los lugares colonizados por los españoles, este tributo era el pago de los habitantes indios a la realeza de la corona española.

    Explanation:

In pre-Hispanic times and during the rapid colonization by the Spanish, there were tax systems (or tributes) for the legitimate authorities of Spain, such as the manors, the rulers, the noble houses, the temples; to whom it was appropriate to repay by imparting justice, administering collective life, protecting against any enemy and, above all, avoiding the wrath of the divinities.

The collectors were responsible for 40 houses each.

The tributes collected at that time were blankets of various types, canvas, feathers, pinewood for torches, mats, baskets, vessels, etc.; other important products were corn, turkeys, cocoa, tomatoes, chili peppers, and salt.
