The native Americans felt as though the government was taking everything and giving nothing in return. The government took their homes, land, and in some cases their rights. While they still had freedom of speech their speech was limited to those within the Native American culture. The government refused to budge in any kind of discussion about terms about giving anything back to the Natives. The lasting effect is that the Native culture will never fully trust the government, or its people.
