The style defines line spacing as single and does not insert any additional blank space between lines when you press the enter key

The style that you described is known as the No Spacing style. The normal style would insert an additional blank space when you would press the Enter Key, which is how Microsoft Word is commonly set when you turn it on. You have to specifically turn on the no spacing style if you want it.
