What contributed to the construction of the Berlin Wall? The Soviet Union was losing its control in East Germany. (maybe this one) The East German economy was on the verge of collapse. (maybe this one) France and the United States had differing opinions on how to administer Berlin. Poor and hungry West Germans were flooding into East Germany.
