AP US History question:

Although historically represented as distinct parties, the Federalists and the Whigs in fact shared a common political ideology, represented many of the same interest groups, and proposed similar programs and policies. Assess the validity of this statement.

    This statement is technically valid in the sense that both the Federalist and Anti-Federalists believed in the future of the Union--it was just that they differed on how they thought the Union would progress.
