The Spaniards had a distinct class structure. Who was at the top of the class structure?

    The Spanish were divided into a caste system. Peninsulares who were the wealthy, regarded themselves higher than everyone else because they were born in Spain. While the Creoles were considered the middle class, and the Mulattos were basically the poor.
