Charles-Louis de Second, Baron de La Brede et de Montesquieu was a French lawyer, intellectual and political philosopher who lived during the Enlightenment period. He is popularly known for his theory on separation of powers, which has inspired politics in many different places and also worked hard to secure and make known the word "despotism" in the political field. He also had a philosophy on history, which minimized the position of the individual and events in a specific time period.
