The Roosevelt Corollary states that the United states would intervene in Latin America affairs when necessary to maintain economic and political stability in the Western Hemisphere. The goal of it was to prevent European powers from using the debt problems of latin America to justify messing with them in the region. The United States first used the Roosevelt Corollary in the Dominican Republic, which had fallen behind on its debts payments to European nations
