    minstrel shows: lively dances of english, scottish, and irish origin-

    -epecially jigs, hornpipes and waltz clogs.

    - the first truly original american theatrical form. ex: "blackface."

    vaudeville: included choruses of female line dancers,

    -comedy acts, circus style jugglers and acrobats. family entertainment.

    -created a new style of tap dance that involved more improvisation.
