Why do so many cultures have accounts of creation?

Every culture, as they began to develop a complex linguistic system to communicate effectively and as they developed a system of governance and belief had to answer the basic question. Why are we here? and How did we get here?

When the people in the civilization grew wiser and more effective at communicating with each other, they began to explore the unexplored and their curiosity kept growing. Certain inventions in different eras allowed them to advance even more.

Eventually it is because of this that almost every culture has an account of the creation. How did it happen and who did it? certain cultures believe an almighty divine did this, and certain culture believe in a more scientific cause and effect phenomena.
