The correct answer is Christian Missionaries.

European culture was spread by Christian missionaries who went to Asia and Africa to convert native people into Christianity.

The European colonial powers sent missionaries to many parts of Africa. Portugal did it, England did it, France did it. Religion, in this case, Christianity, was used to get into people's beliefs and tried to change them, but behind that reason was the purpose of colonization and exploit the rich and abundant natural resources that the continent of Africa has.
