The United State (US) is the third largest country in the world by area which encompasses an area of 9.8 million square, divided in 48 contiguous states, two non-contiguous states of Hawaii and Alaska and the capital's federal district.

Along with this partition, the US Census Bureau divided the US into four regions in order to collect statistical data easier.

Such regions are: West, Midwest, South and Northeast.

West: It is divided into two major divisions; the Mountains and the Pacific.

Midwest: It is subdivided into two divisions; West North Central and East North Central.

South; It includes the divisions; West South Central East South Central and South atlanctic.

Northwest: It is divided into two divisions; Middle Atlantic and new England.
