    Explanation:

    In 1500, Portuguese comes to the Indian subcontinent through the calicut city in the form of traders. For their arrival, the Muslim merchants of the calicut city wrote a letter to the Hindu ruler in order to given no place to Portuguese for trading because the Muslim merchants realized the main purpose of the arrival of Portuguese. He thought that these Portuguese comes to the city in order to capture it because it is a big city where most of the trade occurs through water.
