Where were the first spanish colonies located in the new world? in canada in north america in south america in the west indies

    Well since they faced the Native American tribes to the south (Mayan, Inca, Aztec ... etc.) and most of south america is still Spanish speaking to this day, that'll be south america. If I'm not mistaken it was Mexico where Columbus landed.
