    A plan to divide the land of Palestine into two states i. e. between Jewish and Arab was put forward by the United Nations in the year 1947, however, the Arabs rejected this plan. Later on, in May 1948, David Ben-Gurion, who was serving the post of the head of the Jewish Agency, announced the establishment of Isreal. This nation was recognized by the then President of the United States Harry S. Truman on the same day.
