The ramifications of the Northern Europeans failing to find cities equivalent to Tenochtitlan (and other cities of the Incas that were rich in natural/mineral resources such as jewels and gold) anywhere in north America were that they wasted their time and money, and were forces to settle in the cities they explored. An explorer like Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, and his expedition, became shipwrecked, faced starvation, and was also forced to become friends with Natve Americans, and live with them.
