The Federal Trade Commission Act (38 Stat. 717) was originally passed in 1914 with President Woodrow Wilson's enthusiastic support. In its current form, the act states that "unfair methods of competition ... and unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce, are hereby declared unlawful.
