The movement known as enlightenment focused mainly on the purpose of reforming the society, challenging those baseless ideas that were based on tradition and faith and to try and spread knowledge through scientific methods and explanations. This movement not only promoted scientific thought among people but also skepticism and intellectual interaction. The enlightenment was actually intended towards bringing a revolution in the way people thought during that time. This movement was in favour of scientific explanation of every thing that people followed or did blindly. It tried to hit the basic thought process of people and change them for good.
