What policy allowed businesses to operate under minimal government regulation?

    The name of the policy is Laissez Faire, which translates into "Let them do". It allows private parties to conduct transactions without tariffs, subsidies and regulations being applied. It is similar to the separation of church and state, in that there is a distinct hands off with the government interfering with private transactions.
