The renaissance was a time of awakening or a rebirth that occurred after the middle ages. Discuss some of the changes that occurred in art work. Explain how renaissance art different from the art in the middle ages. Be sure to mention at least one Renaissance artist in your answer.

The Renaissance art reflects a tremendous shift in how we and the artist see the world. Untill the Rebirth or Renaissance the dogmas of the church still ruled the world but with the rise of humanism (Erasmus, Thomas More, Martin Luther and many others) the doors to a more human approach (faith in humans instead of God) were opened in many ways. In the arts this was visible for example in the music: The vocal music (religiously inspired) lost ground to the rise of instrumental music (Kapsberger) that experimented with improvisation and more creative freedom. Painters like Botticelli and Raphael displayed an impressive mastery of ¨depth¨, linear perspective and naturalistic realism.
