    The event occured when Moses had freed the Hebrew slaves and was taking them to the 'promised land' i. e. Palestine.

    While they were travelling, the group rested near a mountain which is situated in modern-day Egypt, called Mount Sinai.

    Moses went up to the mountain for a couple of days and brought back with him the Ten Commandments which every Hebrew/Jew must abide by.

    The Ten Commandments are the foundations of religious law in the Judeo-Christian tradition and are a significant event in the Jewish history.
