Three ways the US acquired land in the 1800s:

    1. The Louisiana purchase we got In 1803, we bought the land for 15million dollars from the French because they needed money for their war expenses.

    2. The Gadsden Purchase, some say the worst purchase in US history we bought in 1853-1854, basically the Gadsden purchase was a 10 million dollar purchase that was the bottom of Arizona and some of New Mexico.

    3. The Mexican-American war, this war was in 1821 for independence, and from this war the US acquired California, Nevada, Utah, Part of Arizona, Part of Colorado, Part of New Mexico, and don't forget about Texas.
